Trapping Tips:
- Line the bottom of the trap with folded newspaper. Some people like to staple so it stays together. Others use a piece of material (felt-like).
- Feed the cats in the locked open (not set) traps for a few days before you plan to start trapping. You can start with the food at the entrance of the trap and gradually move it in.
- Only put a small amount of food into the trap on the day of trapping. Cats may have water but should not have food after 10:00 pm the night before delivery to the clinic for surgery.
- When you have trapped a cat, please cover it with a sheet, blanket, or burlap cover. This will help calm the cat during confinement in the trap. Some people have better trapping results if they place the blanket or cover over the trap while trapping but keep the ends of the trap uncovered. Keep the cat in a safe, temperature controlled area.
- All outdoor cats must be delivered to the clinics in a humane live trap for the safety of the cat and the clinic staff.
